Amla is one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda and is widely used to health maintain skin and hair health. It is a powerful antioxidant with an ORAC value 75 times higher than goji berries, 50 times greater than raw blueberries,and 2 1/2 times higher than acai fruit. Amla goes well with chilled water, blueberry smoothies and is a good addition as a cooking spice. Amla has a sour astringent taste when consumed as a fruit.
